Grass Type

Our sod is made exclusively from Kentucky Bluegrass, renowned for its rich, deep green colour that enhances any landscape. Perfect for both residential and commercial settings, this grass is drought, disease, and pest-resistant. Its fine texture also provides a soft, luxurious feel underfoot.

Quality Assurance

We cut our sod fresh on the morning it’s scheduled to be picked up or delivered, ensuring the freshest, healthiest sod for the success of your project. We adhere to rigorous quality control standards, so every roll of sod you receive meets our high expectations and consistently delivers premium quality.

Roll Sizing

Our sod is precisely cut and expertly rolled using advanced tools and equipment. You can order exactly the amount your project requires, minimizing excess and shortage issues. Each sod roll measures 2 feet x 4.5 feet, covering 9 square feet and weighing about 40 lbs (18 kg).

IMPORTANT:

Sod MUST be installed within 6 HOURS of delivery.

Please plan your delivery date carefully to ensure immediate installation.

About Our Delivery Process

Ordering

For delivery place your order online or call us at +1 (705) 487-3000. Ensure your order is in square feet with a minimum of 30 rolls (270 square feet).

Time Frame

To guarantee next-business-day delivery, orders must be placed by 3 PM the day before. Orders placed after 3 PM will be scheduled for delivery in 2 business days. If needed, you can schedule your delivery further in advance.

Delivery Requirements

Your sod is freshly cut on the morning of delivery. Ensure 9 feet of clearance for delivery. You must be present to accept delivery and install the sod within 6 hours.

New Sod Care

Watering

Water your sod immediately after installation, soaking it thoroughly to ensure proper root establishment. Use a sprinkler or water by hand to achieve full saturation.

Mowing

Mow your new lawn 1-2 weeks after installation, when cutting it will remove about one-third of the grass length. Do not mow wet grass.

Shade

Our sod tolerates some shade but requires light to thrive. Avoid laying sod in completely shaded areas to prevent potential decline. It is suggested in shade areas to overseed with shade seed spring and fall is a recommended practice for your sod to thrive.

Most cars can fit about 10 rolls in the trunk. For larger vehicles like trucks and SUVs, the limit is often the vehicle’s weight capacity. Typically, a skid of sod, which includes 80 rolls, weighs about 3,000 pounds.

The feasibility of transporting sod in your vehicle depends on three factors:

The type of vehicle you are driving
The number of rolls you intend to purchase
The weight capacity of your vehicle

Please note: Transporting sod is likely to soil your vehicle’s interior, and we do not provide liners, so preparation is essential. Please bring something to protect and keep you vechicle clean.

For best results, ensure that sod is laid when you or your landscaper are ready to manage the installation and ongoing care, which is vital for successful sod establishment. This includes keeping the sod moist, especially during hot periods which may require frequent watering.

Additionally, it is important to minimize walking on the sod while it is rooting initially. Avoid planning events or activities on new sod to support its healthy establishment.

Fairgreen Sod Farms ensures that our sod is of the highest quality and harvested at an optimal time for survival and growth, which means sod can be laid anytime between mid-April, to mid-December, weather depending. This flexibility allows for sod installation to occur outside the traditional growing season, with proper care still being a critical factor for success. During high-head, more frequent watering is required to ensure rooting and health of your sod.
